Beef Liver and Onions Recipe

Ingredients:

 

500 g beef liver (sliced into thin pieces)

 

2 medium onions (sliced into rings/strips)

 

3 cloves garlic (minced)

 

2 tbsp soy sauce

 

2 tbsp vegetable oil (or butter)

 

1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice (helps reduce bitterness)

 

1 tsp black pepper

 

1 tsp paprika (optional)

 

Salt to taste

 

 

 

 

Instructions:

 

1. Prepare the liver:

 

Rinse liver slices and pat dry.

 

Marinate with soy sauce, black pepper, garlic, and vinegar/lemon juice for about 20–30 minutes.

 

 

 

2. Cook the onions:

 

Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.

 

Add onion slices and sauté until softened and slightly caramelized. Remove and set aside.

 

 

 

3. Cook the liver:

 

In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed.

 

Add liver slices and sear for 2–3 minutes per side (do not overcook, or it will become tough).

 

Return the onions to the pan and stir everything together for another 2 minutes.

 

 

 

4. Serve hot:

 

Garnish with extra black pepper.

 

Best served with rice, mashed potatoes, or bread.
